RV Group Convenes National Workshop on HIV/AIDS Financial Sustainability in Vietnam
On November 23, 2022, RV Group hosted a landmark workshop at the International Conference Centre in Hanoi, bringing together over 200 delegates to mark a significant milestone — the 10-year review of the Project on Financial Assurance for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Activities in Vietnam, with a strategic outlook toward 2030.
The gathering drew participation from some of the most distinguished figures in global and national public health. Among the special guests were Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien Huong, Vice Minister of Health; Mr. Marc Knapper, United States Ambassador to Vietnam; Ms. Liu C Liu, Head of the PEAFER Country Coordination Office; Mr. Oliver Cavey, Global Fund Portfolio Manager; and senior leadership from the Ministry of Health.

The workshop facilitated high-level discourse across three critical areas:
- Financial sustainability toward 2030 — Delegates examined evidence-based orientations and actionable solutions for sustaining HIV/AIDS programme financing as international donor funding evolves.
- Donor investment strategy — Discussions addressed optimising donor engagement within Vietnam’s national HIV/AIDS prevention framework, with targeted recommendations for domestic resource mobilisation.
- International experience and lessons learned — Global best practices were presented to inform Vietnam’s long-term programmatic decisions and policy adaptations.

This workshop underscored the critical intersection of policy, financing, and clinical commitment in achieving epidemic control. For healthcare professionals engaged in HIV/AIDS care and prevention, the event reaffirmed that sustainable financing is not merely a fiscal concern — it is a clinical imperative directly tied to patient outcomes and continuity of care across the country.
