Bisoprolol is a highly cardioselective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker with minimal effect on beta-2 receptors. Its selectivity offers improved tolerability in patients with reactive airway disease or peripheral vascular conditions compared with non-selective beta-blockers. Indicated for the management of hypertension, chronic stable angina pectoris, and as adjunctive therapy in stable chronic heart failure with reduced ejection fraction alongside ACE inhibitors, diuretics, and where appropriate, cardiac glycosides.
